Both blackcap (a fem today, the male last seen yesterday), and siskins (min 4 today) make it into another month. Looks like they will only leave when my sunflower hearts run out, which will be in 4-5 days time. I don't feed birds during Summer. A nuthatch was a surprise today, being the first for c3 weeks.

Then last Thursday a new garden bird here arrived when a Brambling appeared under the feeders, eventually trying out the feeders. It has appeared most days since then when I have had a chance to look and still here today at 3 pm.
Half a dozen siskins and the blackcap pair still visiting daily. Makes me think that winter might not yet be over. Also today- 2 jays visiting neighbouring garden, and a sparrowhawk on patrol.

Hi Chris, great you are getting blackcaps in your garden lately, unfortunately for me I haven't had any blackcap this winter in my old Trafford garden, disappointing as I had them every winter for many years now. I get the ring-necked parakeets every day had 23 just the other day, I'm moving house soon so maybe when I stop feeding the birds they will come to yours as you seem to be not too far away.
Hi Steven, do the parakeets take over / force other birds away? Or do they just visit once a day? It's a nice novelty for now but wouldn't want to start seeing them in the same light as grey squirrels and pigeons... not that I could do much about it if they did decide to visit regularly!
