A Buzzard drifted over the Parish church this afternoon only to be met and driven off by one of the local Ravens, driving up from Scholes to Whelley a Carrion Crow was trying to get into a Magpie nest whist the Magpies were present, the traffic lights changed and I had to carry on my way but the Magpies were getting fairly aggressive towards the Crow

Another sighting of Peregrine in Wigan. This one was on the church tower of St. James with St. Thomas on Tipping Street (just off Poolstock Lane). It was sat high up on the side facing the town centre, on top of of one of the large gargoyles. I watched it for 10 mins, returned 20 minutes later, it was still there but now feeding on a kill. Not sure if this is a different bird to the one reported to earlier on the Parish Church tower in the centre of Wigan. Great to see.

For the third day running a flock of around eight-10 Redwings are feeding on a holly tree in a garden in Hodges Street.
Seen them on this tree before but only in really cold spells so its unusual to see them now in such an urban setting when we've not seen any great numbers around the local countryside this winter.
Hopefully they might drag in a more exotic species of berry feeder!
Allan, It's the same story here on Ladybridge Estate, we see Redwing in small numbers everyday at present . Usually near the centre which can be quite busy. I noted that the Redwing this morning were not as flighty (as people passed on the adjacent footpath) as earlier in the winter. Like you I am hoping for ''more exotic species''
