The ducks today were tucked away for a lot of the time under the south edge roots and trees in water.. Thus not easy to count; Tufted Duck....c30 Pochard...21+ Teal.........4 Canada Goose....70+ Common Gull...10 As reported elsewhere on this forum the Meadow Pipits and Pied Wagtails continue to feed in proximity to one another: Pied Wagtail....45+ Meadow Pipits...12+ Just across the water on the west side a flock of 100 Starlings was feeding with a few Fieldfare. On the footpath hedge, as I was leaving, a flock of 34 Fieldfare dropped in, later joined by a few Starling.

Near full breeding plumaged Mediterranean Gull present at 11:12 today, along with a pair of Gadwall, 30+ Meadow Pipit and 2 Stock Dove.
Rumworth final total for 2013 was 108 species. All-comers total 121. Bird of the year - Glossy Ibis.

Walked round this morning in the mist and that fine rain...
Yesterday morning dog walk around Lock Lane via the dam:
Grey Wagtail...1 on the dam by the water. Moorhen...2 Pied Wagtail....5 of which 3 were on roofs and 2 in the flooded Horse field. ( the flood now back again) Carrion Crows ...11 Redwing...c35 over west The lady, who I know from Deane Golf Club, was topping up the bird table in St. Johns Wood. She does this everyday unless it is very wet. Certainly today the birds were appreciative, as I have never seen as much feeding activity, with constant visits,to the table, from Blue and Great Tits and at least 2 Coal Tits,and with Nuthatch back many times.

The 2 Glossy Ibis returned at 12.45pm after their visit to the pub! After a short roost on the south side they were very flighty, breifly landing in field on Lock Lane. Last seen at 1.38pm flying south and out of sight.

2 Great crested Grebes returned now water levels are rising - we nearly have 2 islands again.

This evening with Phil Rhodes: Our famous four Glossy Ibis still feeding in shallow water in the southwest bay. Then at 5.30 pm spooked by firework bangers, or possibly shotgun noise, from distance( Hunger Hill area). Flew off NW until lost to sight.

Our famous four Glossy Ibis still feeding in shallow water in the southwest bay.
Then at 5.30 pm spooked by firework bangers, or possibly shotgun noise, from distance( Hunger Hill area).
Flew off NW until lost to sight.
