There's a few sightings of them from around the country but this winter looks not to be an 'invasion' year.

Not too early but there have been very few reports nationally so far so a more interesting report for that.
Any chance of finding out where they were?

Secondhand info from my Girlfriend but she said there were some Waxwings in Eccles at 13:00 today. Probably nr the tram/bus stop, or on the bus route to the Trafford Centre.
Is it too early for these awesome birds?

There were at least 20, maybe as many as 30, in the park next to Whitworth Art Gallery today. Really surprised me, I went for a walk and suddenly thought "I know that sound..."
It does make me wonder, given how late they are holding on, and given they seem to have shifted food source in many cases (these ones were eating buds and shoots, possibly insects too), is there anything in principle to stop them staying here and trying to breed? I know there's no precedent, but that's increasingly proving an irrelevant point. As far as I can see, if they stay much longer, then they are going to turn to "natural urges".

Up to 70 Waxwings on Fog Lane between Sussex Ave and Beaver Rd this morning from 7.50 to 8.15 - good spot from your bike when there were fewer birds, Dave Spent most of their time in the tall tree next to the lower berry tree as many people passing on pavement going to work/school kept them from feeding for too long.

Around a dozen Waxwings taking berries from a large tree in a front garden on Fog Lane, Didsbury this afternoon at 17.30. I'm not totally sure of the exact location - as I was shooting past on my bike, but it was on the part of the Road that is close to Fog Lane Park and on the Park side of the road. They flew off towards Fog Lane Park, but there were still berries on teh tree, so they may well go back.

27 this morning at 09:00 on Hartford Road, Daisy Hill, Westhoughton followed by 45 at 10:00 in trees in the grounds of Daisy Hill FC, Westhoughton.
The ones on Hartford Road had disappeared by 10:00 and as the two places are close to each other then could they be part of the same flock?
During the day I pottered about Westhoughton and Daisy Hill and I could hear waxwings in various places but couldn't confirm any other sightings.
