Evening visit after work. Nice to put a face to Gordon Newman, and to meet a couple of birders from Ormskirk and Widnes.
- summer plumaged Red-necked Grebe Few and far between in this plumage so I thought it was well worth the traffic laden journey over. The bird didnt disappoint and showed well albeit a bit distant. The bird was observed calling a few times too.
Other birds of note - 2 singing Cettis Warbler (1 from Tom Eds screen, 1 from Ruck leaning post) - singing Blackcap - singing Chiffchaff - few Goldeneye - Sand Martins and Swallow over the lake

Good scope views of Red-necked Grebe from Green Lane ... very mobile ranging from yellow buoys in front of rucks down to the yellow see-saw when we left around 19.00 hrs.

The Red Necked Grebe still present early afternoon, looking good in full sum plum,first breeding plumage bird I've seen for nearly 40 years,the last one being a late spring bird at Chorlton Water Park. The Whooper Swans still present aso well.
Other birds this morning Little egret and 2 Black Tailed Godwit from Ramsdales hide, pair of Brambling at Bunting hide and 2 Blackcap singing near there.

The drake Garganey still present today,plenty of hirundines as previous posts,at leader 3 singing Cetti Warblers including one right in front of Horrocks hide that showed really well. 5 Wigeon off the sailing club plus all the usual.
One swallow feeding with approximately 50 sand martins over the Flash at the moment.
