Irlam and Chat Mosses - late morning
1 Little Egret on Croxden pools before flying off NW. Terrible phone photo attached. 3 Raven over 3 Blackcap singing 1 Yellow Wagtail 3 Snipe 3 Oystercatcher 2 Buzzard 2 Kestrel Lots of Swallow and Swift feeding over the fields with a few House Martin and 1 Sand Martin
I must have been there just a bit later (nobody else on the west side of the NR) - only saw one Hobby doing some swooping in the middle of the reserve (wasn't close enough to see if it caught anything). It then sat at the top of a tree for 20 minutes before flying around a bit and then gradually soaring off up to a great height (could only still just see in binoculars).
Other raptors; Marsh Harrier (probably female, definitely not adult male), Buzzard and 2 Kestrels at opposite ends of the reserve.
And has been already reported, loads of Lapwings including several juveniles, at least 3 Oystercatchers, juvenile Pied Wagtails, didn't see the Little Ringer Plovers.
Good views (from inside the car) of juvenile swallows on the ground by some of the outbuildings on the drive into the west end of the NR.

A very rewarding hour at Little Woolden this am when 2 Hobbies turned up 5 minutes after I arrived and spent the next hour swooping around feeding on dragonflies. Also several Lapwing,2 Little Ringed Plover, good numbers of young Pied Wagtails,2 Oystercatchers, and 2 Kestrel feeding over the reserve.

Walk from M62 Motorway bridge on Moss Road (north of Cadishead Moss) - Little Woolden Moss NR via south gate (anti-clockwise path direction) - exit Reserve via gate to north - through Little Woolden Moss past Red House Farm and Whitegate Farm - along Moss Lane - then south along River Glaze following Salford Trail - back on to Little Woolden Moss NR at Western end - followed perimeter path to south gate and return to starting point.

Female Marsh Harrier at 09:55 then seemed to land in centre of Moss. Hobby caught a dragonfly and plucked it mid air at 10:55.
