Dying to see a waxwing in the flesh also would love a decent photo. Is there parking at arnott crescent ? Was going to pop down during my lunch break around 1-2 pm. Tomorrow. Obviously pushed for time so hoping there's somewhere close to park up.
Thank in anticipation :0)
Hi Collette,
You can park on Arnott Crescent.
It might be an idea to find a parking spot away from the houses as to avoid parking in any residents parking areas though.
Hope this helps and good luck!!

Approx 100 plus waxwings at Monmouth Park at 1.30 today. Difficult to count accurately as it was lashing it down and there were birds on the ground as well as fliting about the trees. Plus we were sat in the car with two sleeping kids!
Mistle Thrush also in attendance!

Top weekend! Saturday morning best pal wanted to see the waxwings before I dropped him off at Piccadilly station, about 11.30am got to Arnott Cresent some other birders there, rough count about 120 but some flew off to Princess Parkway whilst others came in from Greenheys Lane so roughly same. Some were switching trees and flying within 2 ft of us.

These Arnott Close birds just don't like me I think. I only had about 20-30 minutes this evening as the sun set but they just didn't really show well enough for photos. Ah well, might've got a flight shot, though I doubt it. 17 were present when I arrived, but 31 when I left.

4 waxings heading west over my garden on the Edges Fold estate, Westhoughton, at about 14:30. I was clearing up garden rubbish and heard a strange call, looked up and hey presto. Brill.
Whilst gardening I also saw a sparrowhawk patrolling, 4 collared doves, 3 blackbirds, 12+ sparrows, 1 dunock, 2 robins, 5 black headed gulls and 5 gold finches.
Not a bad day's non-birding

I arrived at Arnott Crescent, Hulme at 1.10 and there were only 6 Waxwings on view. I moved on to Monmouth Park, Ordsall in time to see a large flock (c120 from movie still) fly off in the direction of .... Hulme. So back to Arnott Crescent and there were c175 exactly where the 6 were, above the parking area. Several birds were flying into the housing estate and feeding on Rowans with pale berries at Carey Walk. Got back to car to find the windscreen covered in Waxwing droppings !. A few inquisitive locals about. I got called a snoop, even a police informer ! Hopefully got some half-decent film footage too
