Nice wet morning walk around just the Reservoir this morning highlights 1 Greater Scaup roosted at capsticks end before flying to the creek to feed at 8.35am 7 Goldeneye 2 male 5 female. 17 teal. 20 Goosander. 4 Little Egret. 1 Jacksnipe flew over the Reservoir. 1 Great black backed Gull.

Wet and miserable this morning:
The sunny highlights include:
Teal Goldeneye Goosander Shoveler
The Scaup wasn't in his usual spot, and I couldn't see him elsewhere, though the weather was causing visual issues.
Little egret x3 Pheasant Snipe x4 (Well hidden but viewable) Water rail x1 Meadow pipit Willow tit x2 Redwing And a Kingfisher was heard but not seen.

Late afternoon till dusk, 36 Goosander roosted also 10 Goldeneye, 1 Scaup, 1 Pochard, c1300 Black-headed Gulls roosted, large gulls seem to have stopped roosting now, it was good while it lasted. Also 3 Little Egret present and 5000+ Jackdaws over towards Radcliffe.
Further highlights from this morning, 1 Scaup, 4 Pochard (3m 1f), 1 Buzzard, 1 Greylag Goose and along the canal 1 Water Rail seen and a further 7 heard. Cheers Ian

First trip round Elton Reservoir, the mud was real
Worth it as I saw my first kingfisher. Spotted in flight twice!
Also highlights for me:

Despite the threat of persistant fog from the forecast, I managed to get out for my usual rounds....
Highlights include:
Teal Gadwall Goldeneye Shoveler Scaup 1st W. Drake Goosander Pheasant Water rail (good views) Kingfisher Meadow pipit Grey wagtail Buzzard Sparrowhawk Jay Redwing Fieldfare Mistle thrushes in good numbers (most I've seen for a while; (C) ×16+) with one singing away.
As it happens, the only fog I saw was on my bino lens, (serves me right for been hot headed)
Lots of activity this morning with 58 species in total. In addition to Ians sightings:
Kingfisher by the car park.
2 Sparrowhawk and 2 Kestrel.
4 Shoveler, 25+ Teal, 16 Gadwall and 5 Wigeon.
At least 5 Song and 6 Mistle Thrush among the Turdus extravaganza!
1 Skylark over.
5 Bullfinch and 1 Reed Bunting.

Scaup diving by the sailing club at about 1:40pm today. Pic attached (sorry it looks awful my camera cant do distance). Just a casual walk today not birding as thoroughly as usual, but also saw a skein of c44 Pink Footed Geese flyover northbound at 10:30am.

Scaup diving by the sailing club at about 1:40pm today. Pic attached (sorry it looks awful my camera cant do distance). Just a casual walk today not birding as thoroughly as usual, but also saw a skein of c44 Pink Footed Geese flyover northbound at 10:30am.
