I know anyone that has bird feeders has a good chance of a sparrowhawk making a visit to there garden seeing what they can pick off and i have had one taking prey before, but it is still a superb view to look in your garden as i did this morning and have a female Sparrowhawk actually sat on top of my bird table almost as if teasing anything to come and take food if you dare, superb

Interesting Chris are you sure they were not Red Kites ? Its just that there have been quite a few sighted recently round newton park / winwick and knowsley is just up the road from here.

4 black kites Chris - wild ones. Have you reported these as rarities as they are not common in UK and certainly not in numbers like this, Where exactly are they as I suspect many birders -including me- would like to try and see them.

Not in Gm but a trip to Knowsley safari park today produced: Scores of lbb gull bh gull and lapwing Handful of herring and GBB gull 2 common gull still in summer pl. mewing over the car park 2 buzzard Kestrel 1 common sandpiper in one of the small pools/ditches preening. Seeing four black kites flying together was a highlight.as was getting out of the baboon enclosure with both windscreen wipers intact.

3 Peregrine Falcons right above my house in Heaton Mersey just now, right next to the golf driving range.. 1 female and 2 young. Making a right racket, pretty amazing sight. First I've seen here.

3 Longtailed Tits have fledged from a nest site in a neighbours garden. Believe a further 2 were predated probably by a pair of Magpies who are currently feeding 2 juveniles in a nearby nest

A large Lesser Black-Backed gull swooped down to pick some debris from Oldham Road near Royal Mail today. One of the three blokes sat around on a teabreak said, somewhat jokingly: 'It's an Albatross!'
Surprised to see one around there in the street to be honest.

Driving home tonight along Dunham Rd, near Warburton a Collard Dove flew alongside my car for approx 100 metres matching me exactly for speed. I checked my speedo and realised it was effortlessly doing exactly 40 mph! It certainly looked like it could have stepped it up a bit!

Hi Joe, was the Darvic ring green with white writing? If so, it's probably a bird originally ringed in Cheshire. If you contact the Cheshire Swans Group with details of your sighting, they'll let you know where it was first ringed.

On the bridgewater canal saw these swans feeding on Thursday. On closer inspection one of the adults had a ring numbered CT59. Could anyone tell me anything about this bird? Its paired with an unringed bird and has 6 cygnets this year, very popular with the commuters! Thanks, Joe

3 blackbirds 1 song thrush 2 Long-tailed Tits 2 Blue Tits 4 Collared Doves 3 Woodpigeon 2 Feral pigeon.
The breeding season is well upon us,
PLEASE LEAVE FLEDGLINGS ALONE , OR PUT THEM UNDER COVER.
