LITTLE EGRET
An e-mail from Liz Saxby at the VC
'Birder (Thomas C George) just reported aprox 2.30pm seeing L/Egret fly in &was still there feeding when he left 3pm. It did walk around the back of one of the islands!'
How sad to hear this news, its about time there was some restriction on the jet skis they think they own the water. How many times have we seen them racing around without regards for anything, how many walks have been ruined by them ,it comes as no surprise really

I heard some late news today that the adult male and a cygnet Mute Swan were killed by a jet ski recently. The M.E.N. reports the incident as occurring on Tuesday 30th July. Apparently the police are inviolved.
A mid-day visit to a very quiet Broad Ees Dole. 1 Common Sandpiper 8 Heron 3 Shoveller 2 Little Grebe 2 Mallards
Also 1 Mink in inflow channel behind Jackson's Boat
Sad to see the "improvement" works to the riverbank between Barfoot Bridge and Jackson's Boat. No doubt sand martin nesting holes will have been obliterated. Perhaps time for a mink proof artificial nesting bank to be built.
