morning dog walk windy with showers 3 willow warbler, 2 whitethroat, 3 flocks goldfinch, 20+, 14 and 9, great tit, blackbird, robin, 1 meadow pipit, cock pheasant, 1 grasshopper warbler heard only, magpie,carrion crow, wood pigeon, female mallard with 2 well developed young in drainage ditch, Diggle flash could only see 1 mute swan in reedbed hopefully cygnets and mum were further in, 6 small mallard ducklings with no sign of a parent bird, 32 coot, 1 little grebe, 2 great crested grebe, 6 black headed gulls, 1 moorhen, 9 swallow flying low over reed beds then perching in a small tree a reed warbler had a go at the swallows over the reed bed must have been to close to the nest.

morning dog walk pretty quiet again this morning 3 whitethroat, 7 swallow. 1 sedge warbler, 2 willow warbler, several skylark, reed buntings were showing in decent numbers including i think some juvs, goldfinch, great tit, magpie,carrion crow, wood pigeon, mistle thrush, blackbird, robin, dunnock. Neither sight nor sound of cetti's warbler, I agree with Gordon and Scott, with the cetti's being seen all down the canal corridor from Wigan flashes to Pennington flash I thought we had a chance of getting one here but would have expected the nevisons Reed bed, it may well settle there yet,
