Morning wander round the flashes produced no surprises,but still very pleasant and filled with resident birds,best of all a pair of great crested grebes having a right barny with a pair of coots over a pile of weed
Evening check of Horrocks front pool,residents and 200 swifts and the black headed gull count increased by 3

Horrocks Flash,late check,just the usual crowd very busy alas no visitors,
this is only 'gossip' but quite funny mrs h saw 3 white funny birds over gidlow lane as she was pegging some washing out,unpromted conversation with a non birder

A full-site wander today produced a total of 5 singing Garden Warblers Also seen were 2 Stock Dove over Bryn Marsh and birds carrying food for young included Great Spotted Woodpecker and Coal Tit (the latter formerly a real Flashes rarity)

No sign of the Knot, and the Spoonbills had not alighted here either.....
Knot now at Scotmans Flash, on concrete wall between towpath and flash near the benches and showing to 3m!

I should add at this point,any i.d. problems were all mine,the jizz said knot,the plumage was new to me,mr broome kindly popped along to sort it out.

Knot still there at 7:15 Also saw a tufted Duck pushing a egg around with its bill very unusual
On canal at westwood a Canada Goose Gosling got parted from its family via the by-wash until a kind gent scooped it up and took it back to its waiting family at the other side of the locks

We have to travel through Greater Manchester on Thursday morning and can take in the Pearson's Flash Knot around 10 a.m. if it is still showing, as it would be our main priority. Any updates (between now and then) would be greatly appreciated please.

Horrocks Flash,
4 dunlin plus usual crowd 1 temmincks stint,viewed from the bench,but a little devil dodging in and around the gulls,last seen at 20.10 going to sleep.
Anyone visiting should spare some time to give pearson,s mudflats 'a good coat of looking at' it,s the hottest ticket on the flashes

Scotmans Watched the Drake Goldeneye yesterday on Scotmans for about 20mins and it as a damaged left wing so this looks to be the reason why its still here instead of going back north. Good luck pal just hope you can keep safe and recover for the coming wnter

Mike,the screen on pearsons is a good place to start,there,s a gropper reeling behind you as you look out on the flash,the works is just 200 yards at '8 oclock if your looking out from the screen,or find the metal gate and you,ll see the plant,good luck if want to see one of the frustrating little devils, up to now 'heard only' this year for me.
