From my Eccles garden I was delighted to see a Female Blackcap this morning on the suet fatballs. First Blackcap seen in my garden for at least four years.
That makes my total garden bird species = 33 (for the year).
Still hopeful of seeing Redwing in the Holly Tree - but the large number of Blackbirds seem to have taken over - with the berries rapidly running out!

Always good to be able to see a few birds in the garden on the days when I'm working from home
Three female and one male Chaffinch have been around the garden in recent days. Also a party of eight Long-tailed Tit in the garden this morning and a Jay this afternoon.
Its also really good to see a decent number of House Sparrows around given that they had all but disappeared not so long ago.

Staying at home (was there any alternative today?) was rewarded by a visit to my feeders of a splendid male Brambling, literally just 6 feet away. Another exciting arrival was 3 bullfinches at once (2 fems, 1 male) for the first time ever. Lots of other activity, as is usual on cold, rainy days included umpteen goldfinches, 8+ chaffinches, 3 greenfinches, 2 nuthatches and a jay.

It's being interesting over the last few days off and on in my Radcliffe garden.
Highlights have been and still are:
Goldcrest x2 seen together yesterday. Sparrowhawk still visiting here and there, but just flying through. Goldfinches and Greenfinches this morning have been visiting again collectively about x15, with a few House sparrows which was nice to see,, but even nicer was a Bullfinch. However, a small unfortunate note: My regular Chaffinch male has developed a bad foot. I don't know as of yet how this will affect his prospects of survival, but any disability in the natural world is usually bad news.
Long tailed tits are visiting again upto almost a dozen.
I was also entertained by two Blue tits this morning who were showing off around the window frame, looking for spiders and looking at themselves in the reflection on the window stickers too.
Plus the usual others.

I'm very reluctant to report a rarity that I'm not 100% about, but I have just had a visit from what appears to be a Water Pipit. What I saw was a solitary bird, sitting in a very high leylandii hedge, medium sized, grey head with white eye stripe, sharp bill and a pale but lightly streaked breast. Definitely a new bird to me (and I've never seen a Water Pipit) but resembled a Meadow Pipit. The RSPB's illustration of a Water Pipit in summer plumage (https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/wildlife-guides/bird-a-z/water-pipit/) is spot on, except that the markings on the breast were a little more marked.
