Reading the previous post reminded me of the large flock of Lapwings, that I saw yesterday (around 2pm.) from the entrance of Dunelm Mill. It was a large stretched out flock and I had a minimum count of 130 . Some of the Lapwing would start to turn back, but, in the end, they continued over and along Blackburn Road in the general direction of Bradshawgate.

Just after 10am as I was walking into the Town Centre 51 Lapwings flew over. They gave me the chance to count them as they flew low over the church, coming from Blackburn Road area, and heading towards Manchester Road.
In the Town Centre two very noisy Ravens were at the Town Hall.
When I finally got to the Parish Church at 10.25am I saw :- 1 Feral Pigeon 2 Woodpigeons 1 Pied Wagtail 2 Blackbirds 4 Mistle Thrushes 2 Blue Tits 2 Great Tits 2 Magpies 3 Carrion Crows 1 Chaffinch 2 Greenfinches 20 Goldfinches

11am to 11.15am
A few Blackbirds, one Mistle Thrush, numerous Goldfinches, and usual residents seemed the only birds until I found a Goldcrest as I was about to leave. I watched this lovely little bird for a while as it stayed only a couple of feet away as it fed feverishly in a bush. It paid off staying a bit longer as a Peregrine flew in and landed on the church roof.
