Little Woolden Moss NR - this afternoon
Of concern, a mink ran across the track in front of me and into a ditch were I watched it swimming around seemingly actively hunting before disappearing from view.

1 freshly dead Hedgehog found which had unfortunately been predated. Body perfectly intact but its brain had been eaten! Maybe it had been taken from its hibernation nest.
Little Woolden Moss LWTNR....just think only 11 years ago most of this reserve was a peat desert owing to the destructive peat milling extraction that had despoiled
this landscape...now thanks to the herculean efforts of the Lancashire Wildlife Trust + their Volunteers there is once more a home for Dragonfly and much more!
041023...Keep forgetting to put any other sightings...I suppose its because all my sightings go to the GMBRG/GMEU anyway...but here is my October Catch-up...starting with my first day out of hospital after a rather scary Covid period...
Thousands of spiders webs covered in dew. They look like small hammocks! If anyone knows which species of spider makes these Id be interested to know. Photo attached.

You're welcome Steve. No neither am I. Luckily the app gave the scietific name, which made things a lot easier. Oh yes, they all do, but easier than carting around something the size of two Collins Field Guides spine to spine!
