Brilliant sighting this morning whilst walking to work 4 Kestrels, Two Adults and Two Juveniles. There is a Nest site around here which i knew of so more then likely those.

Mooch coming home from Bickershaw rucks.
2 Sedge Warbler, both seen well 1 Grasshopper Warbler, heard only 1 Reed Warbler, heard only 3 Whitethroat, 1 juvenile being fed from around the nest I've been watching. 1 Skylark, more heard Single Yellowhammer, heard only 3 Meadow Pipit 4 Jay 1 Male Sparrowhawk with prey, possibly the mate of the Female I've seen around. 1 Buzzard 5 Reed Bunting Blackcap,Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff singing. Small numbers of Swift and Swallow. 1 Raven, looks like the one seen last week had feathers missing.

Morning spent at Gin Pit football pitches, 2 skylark singing, garden warbler singing in southwest corner, at least 3 each of Blackcap and Chiffchaff singing and 2 different Sparrowhawks seen.

Hour running this morning, covered all the site.
Moody looking weather though stayed dry and quite warm. Was pretty quiet to be honest not much about at all can only presume a lot of birds are nesting now.
Good number of Skykark singing a total of 8. 5 Meadow Pipit. 2 Whitethroat 1 Sedge Warbler 1 Chiffchaff 2 Jay c50 Swift c30 Swallow
Quite a few Common Birds seen with food Robin,Dunnock,Great and Blue tit all with beaks full of grub.

Run this morning, very warm already.
Loads of birdsong, Willow Warbler,Chiffchaff and Blackcap. Whitethroat,Skylark and Meadow Pipit heard singing. 1 Male Reed Bunting singing. 4 Jay Few Swift and Swallow Female Sparrowhawk, resident Female. 1 Coal tit 2 Mistle Thrush with 2 Juveniles got quite agitated as I went past.

1 Garden Warbler, singing its head off in trees behind Tyldesley RUFC. 1 Grasshopper Warbler 3 Mistle Thrush, all on football pitches at Gin Pit. A 45 minute run it started raining within 5 minutes of being out and it was freezing so as you can imagine not a lot about, the only things of note were 1 Singing Chiffchaff, 1 Singing Willow Warbler, 2 Singing Mistle Thrush and 20+ Swallow. These Migrants must be thinking what the hells going on its freezing.

Highlight though was a Massive Female Sparrowhawk which come through the trees like an heat seeking missle, amazing to watch. Was after something but flew out of view.

Early AM,
Disappointing morning really hardly anything about migrant wise only Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff. There were 2 Blackcap and at a least 4 Skylark with a few Meadow Pipit about some singles flying over also. I did however find 2 White Wagtail with Pied Wagtails in the Horse Fields behind Leigh Cemetery. The was also a hunting Kestrel around the field. 4 Swallow flew through. 5 Grey Partridge flushed.

Highlights from this evenings run,
At least 3 singing Chiffchaff. 3 Singing Skylark 1 Kestrel possibly 2 1 Woodcock, Flushed, scared me to death it did 2 Jay A flock of Meadow Pipit were active in a one of the fields I'd say 15+ possibly more Song and Mistle Thrush singing.

I've noticed signs up today put up by Wigan Council saying some of the footpaths are to be closed and new ones made. To be honest there's nothing wrong with the ones in place, I can't understand why they are doing it at all.

Highlight though was a Massive Female Sparrowhawk which come through the trees like an heat seeking missle, amazing to watch. Was after something but flew out of view.

Disappointing morning really hardly anything about migrant wise only Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff. There were 2 Blackcap and at a least 4 Skylark with a few Meadow Pipit about some singles flying over also. I did however find 2 White Wagtail with Pied Wagtails in the Horse Fields behind Leigh Cemetery. The was also a hunting Kestrel around the field. 4 Swallow flew through.
5 Grey Partridge flushed.

the signs are highlighting the Legal footpaths and rights of way, currently there are paths criss crossing the site, many of which are not legal rights of way.

I don't know details on the locations of the signs that you've seen, but there are some closures and diversions of public rights of way planned in the Higher Folds area due to housing development

I've noticed signs up today put up by Wigan Council saying some of the footpaths are to be closed and new ones made. To be honest there's nothing wrong with the ones in place, I can't understand why they are doing it at all.
