half an hour after work 4-4.30pm 1 kestrel (male) hunting and catching a rodent then flew off into salford. lots off sand martins 4 lapwings 7 grey herons 4 cormorants 1 mute swan 2 canada goose 4 mallards 9 magpies 13 wood pigeons 2 feral pigeons 1 blackbird 2 crows lots off b-h-gulls on rooftops + 2 l-b-b gulls

this morning 9.30-10.30am. 26 species 4 lapwings, could only see 1 chick 1 skylark lots off sand martin 1 swallow 1 swift at least 7 house martins 8 grey herons 6 canada goose + 18 goslings 1 whitethroat 1 willow warbler & 1pair with at least 3 juvenilles 1 grey wagtail 1 blue tit 2 crows 8 magpies 7 greenfinches 6 goldfinches 3 blackbirds 2 wrens 3 cormorants 19 b-h-gulls 2 l-b-b-gulls 17 feral pigeons 7 wood pigeons 1 collared dove 1 song thrush 5 mallard

A quick walkabout in the rain early this morning, birds seen;
Unfortunately my walk was interrupted by 2 undesirables emerging from the undergrowth near to where I was walking and my quick walk back to my car was met by an irate security guard who wasn't happy on where I had parked.

Almost all scrub cleared from the site, no workmen present, 21 bird species (but no Bullfinch or Song Thrush & passerine numbers down from previous surveys)

The land adjacent to the office building now totally cleared, had a quick walk over, used to be good for snipe this time of year but nothing. 3 Lapwing with a handful of BH Gull on the metal roof of the building on the opp side of ship canal.

Most of the scrub has now been taken out at Pomona
Apparently, Peel have a planning application approved to build 5 apartment blocks there
1 JCB (marked Forestry Services) & 2 workmen with chainsaws taking out the scrub at the north side of the site, also towards the middle of the site, further evidence of trees being cut, mulching & a concrete pathway being made
today 1530 - Nothing except 2 Magpies and 1 Mistle Thrush (nowt on water !)

Alongside the ship canal at Baily's Building Supplies (just past the Pomona tram stop). On the white corrugated roof of the building with grey walls in a red frame, 8 Lapwing, 4 Grey Heron, 95 Black-headed Gulls and 1 Herring Gull were roosting, on the roof. Photo obtained.
