18 Waxwing on the berry bush opp the side of CHEP on Mosley Road in Trafford Park this afternoon at 1615-1645, feeding with 2 Fieldfare, a Blackbird and several Wood Pigeon. The wind, last night, has brought most of the berries down so they were feeding on the floor. If they stick around would imagine they will clear all the berries by the end of tomorrow (a decent Waxwing day for me !!! + the Iceland Gull on the Quays)

As I stepped out of my car, on my drive, at 10.15 this morning circa 25 Waxwings passed at roof level above me (trilling away) and alighted in a tree at the end of my cul-de-sac in Davyhulme. Last seen heading towards the Nags Head circle. I had a wander around the area but was unable to re-locate them.
Unfortunately can't count them in my RSPB Garden Birdwatch which I'm currently doing this morning !!!

Hi, I'm new to this forum so very late with reporting my waxwing sighting in Hulme on November 27th (2012). There were around 4 or 5 of them, eating berries on a tree behind the Zion Centre, Stretford Road. The date seems to tie in with some of the other sightings in Hulme posted at that time. I took a few photos and video (but don't seem to be able to link to them).
Thanks, Chris.

Regarding the Waxwings in Sale (Lightborne Road) it's good to hear that we (birders) haven't upset the locals. In the (long distant) past I have been at Waxwing sites where the police have been called out to investigate the "suspicious" crowds trying to look into people's gardens (but that was in Norwich!). One never knows, but the two small lads who used my binoculars to get a better look at the waxwings may develop an interest in birds. For me that is a potential investment in the future.

16/1/13 10.30 - 10.50am A group of 22 Waxwings at the Lightborne Road/Chilcote trees, t/pole & bush in Sale . The Rowan tree is now extremely sparse, I imagine we won't be enjoying their company for much longer. Apart from 1 day, they have been here every day since 31st December. As has a constant visitation of birders, who with just a couple of exceptions, have been most courteous and considerate to local residents, taking the trouble to share views through bins/scopes & explain all about our colourful visitors (the birds that is!). Locals, though bemused by all the attention, have been most impressed - well done everyone!
Update 12.00 - 12.15pm 26 waxwings feeding for a short time, but their visits are becoming shorter & shorter on each sighting.
Update 15.40 A very quiet afternoon with virtually no waxwing activity here. Birders, yes, but waxwings, no.

Went back just before dusk hooping that they might be taking a good feed before they roost, but not one in sight. There were Mistle Thrushes & Redwings having a late feed on the Cotoneasters though. How lovely the Cotoneasters look full of berries, it is not that often you see them in an avenue, the whole length of Warwick Rd has them & there are plenty of berries for Waxwings to go at. I will try again as I haven't seen one for over forty years.
