Interestingly (if you like that sort of thing) this Iceland Gull is almost certainly the same individual which was seen at Richmond Bank, Cheshire last Saturday and then in a gull roost at a permit only site in Greater Manchester last night.

The road was passable with care this afternoon but unfortunately due to thick fog, I was unable to locate the Great Northern Diver with visibility down to 10 yards.
4 Goosander (3 drake) were on the partially frozen lower reservoir.

Just back from my first ever visit to Castleshaw. It's in a beautiful setting and made even more nice with all the snow on the ground.
The Great Northern Diver showed well and was only 30 yards off the dam wall when I got there. It seemed to be working it's way round the reservoir in clockwise motion and was covering quite a distance on each dive. Easily the best views of this species that I've had to date.

Riggers me old chum, its not disappointing, the birds have just chosen another route to migrate on, thats the game, they mess us about and we chase them, it would be boring otherwise.
