Another good morning,
Highlights include for half a circuit:

Pheasant Sparrowhawk Meadow pipit Sand martin Swallow (my year 1st) perched on a wire by the farm near Bennies. Chiffchaff
Lunchtime stroll.
A raft of 22 Goldeneye out on the water and a water rail in the reeds. A pair of ravens courting in one of the pylons.
The repair crew's inflatable boat's been in use on the reservoir this lunchtime so most of the tufted ducks and the usual scaup have moved over to Withins.

Only had time for a quick look this morning, and it was quieter too compared to yesterday's excitement.
Highlights include:
Teal Gadwall x3 Goldeneye Scaup (usual adult) Little egret Pheasant Oystercatcher Lapwing Little ringed plover (vanished soon after) Snipe x1 Skylark Meadow pipit Jay
After waiting in vain to spot the Brambling at the feeders, a Sparrowhawk sat in the branches below soon explained why the birds were keeping their distance.
By 18:20 arrived at a place to view the lake, and a GREAT NORTHERN DIVER was out towards wader point. Couldn't quite believe it, got a good view of it diving, but couldn't see it surface. After scanning, a female Goosander flew away towards the top of the lake with another bird in front of it. As it was flapping fast, this could have been the Diver. Despite spending the next hour and 20 here, could not refind it.
A few pictures to follow, but too slow for the Diver.

After waiting in vain to spot the Brambling at the feeders, a Sparrowhawk sat in the branches below soon explained why the birds were keeping their distance.
By 18:20 arrived at a place to view the lake, and a GREAT NORTHERN DIVER was out towards wader point. Couldn't quite believe it, got a good view of it diving, but couldn't see it surface. After scanning, a female Goosander flew away towards the top of the lake with another bird in front of it. As it was flapping fast, this could have been the Diver. Despite spending the next hour and 20 here, could not refind it.
Other birds seen:
Drake Scaup, Swallow, 4 Sand Martin, 4 Teal, 23 Goldeneye, 3 Great Crested Grebe, Lapwing, 2 Kestrel, 4 Reed Bunting, 3 Goosander.
