Got out of my paining duties for the weekend (well today) so I could get a view of the Timmincks Stint. And it was worth the trade of decorating for the rest of the weekend it was. Showing rearly well on the left side of the spit still near the goal posts. Also the little gull was showing near the far right pontoon.
Thanks to everybody in Horrocks for pointing out where the stint was.

little story-the first two temmicks stints at the flash in the late 70s(see dave wilsons book birds of penny flash)-i was sat on the very end of the point -no one else about, there ware no ditches in front of what's now horrocks hide and the point normally had a row of fishermen fishing for bream along the point.anyway i was sitting on the end of the point watching,i think if i remember rightly a group of black terns about a dozen or so,when i put my bins down i look at my feet and 2 temmicks stints were just walking round my boots feeding, about 3 feet away.unfortunately the only camera i had in them days was a poloroid instamatic, which cost about £10 for 7 pics,so i never could afford a filmnow ive got a good camera and the stint is 100 yards off too far for the camerareal birding days,no hides,no scopes,no money, pair of ziess jena 8 x30 bins which i still keep in the car ,and are still great bins after 30 years, but loads of great birds.

A number of firsts for me today.
I did my first twitch using the new national bus pass. Hazel Grove to Wigan, Wallbank with a change at Manchester, Piccadilly then a 598 bus to Leigh, dropped off at the Sportsman Inn on Firs Lane. Over the canal bridge and your into the Country Park.
The Turnstone at Horrocks I already knew about but the Temminck's Stint was an excellent surprise. Both GM firsts.
Cheers, John.

Found at approximately 9:30 by Flash regular and long-time overdue and well deserved finder Karl Sefton, the bird sat pretty much motionless most of the time slightly hidden in long grass before venturing out, flapping a little then buggering off south (or south east) at approx. 11:35, not to be seen again.
Photo's, as painful as they may be for those longing to see this sought after county species, are on the website.
