Spent a couple of hours from 3pm today in search hopefully of good views of a Kingfisher.Popped in Horrocks and the New Hide and saw a fleeting glimpse of one.l went to Pengy's and WOW there it was sitting in a low branch of a tree, saw it dive a couple of times but never saw it with a fish.A few minutes later a woman came in and l shared my find with her, then all of a sudden it flew straight towards us,directly onto a perch right in front of the hide,l was about's to have the most unbelievable and long-awaited views.......the woman screamed and clapped in delight that it'd come so close......and flushed it!!!! never mind

Despite the Ringed Plovers at Pennington Flash breeding, hatching chicks and doing well initially, the chicks were predated one by one until the final one was taken by a Magpie on the 2nd July. Hey, it's a cruel world out there but nothing's worse than us humans!
