Three parakeets seen on saturday on Chorlton cum Hardy Golf Course and several others heard. They don't seem to be intimidated by the many magpies in the area. They have been around for a few weeks now, and the members are rather hoping they will take a liking to a relatively undisturbed stretch of woodland on the course.

I am a member of this golf club and keep my eyes open for birds on this private expanse of land adjacent to Chorlton Water Park. There have been reports from members of parakeets on the course in the last couple of weeks. I saw two myself yesterday, wednesday. The first time I've seen them there. I shall report any further sightings. I would think they could be occasionally seen from Chorlton Water Park or from the footpath adjacent to the golf course along the River Mersey

5 Ring-necked Parakeets this afternoon (3.30) at Stenner Woods (Mersey Valley) high in the trees around 'muddy waters nursery' near the boardwalk. Three flew off towards the river as I got there, and the other two stayed for five minutes - they looked to be foraging in a dead tree branch.

I have had a phonecall today from a non-forum member informing of a group of four to six Ring-necked Parakeets visiting his garden feeders. he lives in West Didsbury & the Ring-necked Parakeets have been visiting feeders in the Spath Road/Holme Road arae for the past two winters. He noticed that they never visited during the breeding season in 2012 but have returned this winter. He has said that he will keep me informed as to their movements this year

Hi all,
I recently found a parakeets feather in my garden and remember reading about a study of their DNA to try and gain understanding to help endangered species. I posted the feather off to hazel at Kent university and have just received an email back saying this was only the 2nd sample she has ever received from Manchester. If you find a feather and can spear a postage stamp please post it on to her.
