Very quiet over the Crankwood side and in the Tinker Joe's area (1100 to 1325 hrs.) and especially disappointing to discover that the favoured haunt for roosting Jack Snipe has suffered from birch, wllow and phragmites encroachment and is unlikely to prove an attractive venue from now on. Two seemingly suitable damp patches were also empty, but a single Woodcock exploded from a drier location in a small mature woodland area further ravaged by 4x4 activists. 132 Pink-footed Geese (count from photograph) went north-westwards at 1230 hrs., but the only others apparently on the move were a couple of high-flying Jays and three or four Skylarks.
