1:45pm to 4:30pm - Moss Lane, along river Glaze then around perimeter of Little Woolden Moss Nature Reserve & returning along Moss Lane via Whitegate Farm.

Little Woolden Moss LWTNR...in Heavy Rain for the most parts!
1 Curlew in display...no chance this area overrun with Dog Walkers and Off Road Bikes...I mean this part of Chat Moss it's ONLY one of the countries/worlds rarest habitats being so neglected and un-protected!
Irlam Moss...a Grey Partridge Survey for the Farmer...started this in 2006 at his behest...these days it is a depressing trudge through a 'Farmed' Landscape that speaks through my records of the grinding loss of the birds once abundant (even then in 2006 the declines from my youth were obvious) upon such industrialised landscapes...all to make 'cheap' food...there was never such a thing as 'cheap'...for nature ALWAYS pays...and now cheap is in the past...along with that wildlife destroyed to make 'cheap'....
6 Grey Partridge found and this I believe ONLY due to 'game feeders' provided by the farmer....(he hunts so called 'game birds' elsewhere).....
Then happily away from this farmers area on adjacent farmland...
15 Redwing...in pre-Scandinavian return song....always a treat to hear these optimistic choirs sing of their yearning to soon (hopefully) return to their breeding grounds many (many) miles and tribulations yet to face before they arrive there...
