There was a single Arctic Tern from 6.20am which was soon joined by a second bird, both ended up on Within's reservoir as per Simon J and Paul W.
Waders included 14 Common Sandpiper (9 on Within's which flew off high), upto 11 Ringed Plover and 5 Dunlin present. Also a single White Wagtail.
Yesterday evening another Whimbrel dropped in for 15 mins then flew NW at 8pm. Yesterday a total of at least 21 Dunlin were recorded.

Unfortunately, missed the Whinchat, despite a lot of searching. However, 2 Common terns and a Hobby partially made up for it. Nearly came a cropper when a Swallow flew in between Tom and I, near the pumphouse, followed by a Sparrowhawk. A very closed call, for both the Swallow and my face!
Other highlights included 2x Wheatear, Whimbrel, c15 Dunlin (most flew off in a flock), Yellow Wagtail, 4x Common Sandpipers, 2 Linnets and at least 10 House Martins.

It was a very brief visit, unfortunately. It flew over my head as I turned in response to Simon saying "Ring Ouzel!" On turning back, it was sitting high up in a fairly distant tree. I managed a couple of quick shots, but didn't want to get closer as we waited for other birders to get to where we were. It then flew to another treetop across Capsticks field where it stayed for a minute or so before flying high towards Holcombe. A real shame other birders in the area didn't get to see such a rare bird for Elton. Record shot only.

The undoubted highlight was a male Ring Ouzel which flew across the field at Withins and perched in a tree along Capsticks Marsh before flying off high North
