I saw the dog run onto the spit - was in the hide with J. Lyon and ANO, pretty sure he wasn't the dog owner, and no-one seemed to be with it. I went to the office to see if I could get a ranger, but needless to say no-one there.

Late morning from the Rucks: Some bonehead was letting their half-wit border collie run up and down the spit, barking at the geese and swans and scattering everything else in the process. Who was presumably the bonehead in question watched on from the hide. He then clapped his hands, summoning the hound back to the hide, then unbelievably he raised a pair of binoculars and scanned the spit. If you are someone who visits this forum, and if that was your dog, then please try not to be such a complete moron in future!

think the people clapping from the hide were probably birders rob trying to stop it and gain its attension ,Jon Lyons, and Judith were in the hide when you were on the rucks-the collie seems to have been running loose all morning as it passed me and charlie 3 times round the reserve,i think it comes itself over common lane bridge from the estate, although i cannot be sure of that
Well if that is the case then my apologies to whoever was in the hide. And if the dog is reading this: stop barking at geese you nutjob!

probable reason why the hides were closed was that some idiots had smashed the roof of horrocks hide on the inside last night,so it may have been closed until the wardens could clear the mess.

I saw it catch a fish and stand eating it on a fence post for an hour. A second fishing expedition was subsequently ended by a mobbing oystercatcher and the osprey left heading north west.
Thanks Mike. Please see the Abram Flashes thread which covers the area of your sighting. The bird has been around since shortly after midday but you're the first to see it catch anything, let alone lucky enough to see it eat it too!
