Chat and Barton Mosses - late am - early pm
Very quiet. Most notable sightings were:
A flock of 36+ Rook including numerous young - Rooks arent that common on the mosses. 1 Curlew in display flight and chasing off a crow 4 Reed Bunting - 3 singing males plus 1 female. 18 Lesser Black-backed Gulls feeding in ploughed field
The best bird however was a big metal one in the shape of a Lancaster Bomber with supporting Spitfire and Hurricane that flew over.
19 Skylark...11 in Song....possibly singing a Lament to this Greenbelt Landscape that GMSF deems to be 'Warehouse Land'....it beggars belief sometimes the de-natured mindset of those in power...and those with monetary Power....(perhaps these latter people need to refer to the fate of King Midas)...
4 Lapwing in alarm (hidden young)
1 Blackcap in song
4 Stock Dove
1 Sparrowhawk.
