Yes John, but did anyone object when the council notice was on show maybe a year ago? I presume not as the plan was to build a large shed or similar for sheep there (as I understood it). I don't think that SBI status affords much protection anyway. There's another near Brown Low which the owner told me (during a heated exchange) they could do whatever they wished to it.
Loads of bricks and rubble dumped in the quarry and I thought this was supposed to have SBI status.

I've had the chance to get up to the quarry on several occasions and managed to see the Redstart each time. While up there today I bumped into John Raynor and we both managed to get views though John, with more patience, had better views after I left.
The bird is quite elusive mostly hiding in the bracken rather than perched in the open.

A quick walk round the quarry area produced a male Redstart in amongst the Bracken on the right hand side as you walk up towards the quarry, there was also a whitethroat present along with several Dunnocks and a Lesser Whitethroat singing opposite Cloughend.
Returned early morning with Mr Raynor in the hope the Redstart might still be present however it appeared to at least have moved either permanently or temporarily from the quarry area, of note was a male Linnet and the Lesser Whitethroat again.
