The easiest to explain is walk down the central footpath to the footbridge over the canal. Just before you go up the canal bank to the bridge there is a bird singing in the trees on the right.

Just a quick update on the female tufted duck with a nasal saddle CH1 which was still present today, some of this may already be known but perhaps not the later information.
It was ringed as an adult at Sainte-Suzanne-et-Chammes in France on 18/07/2017 and was first seen at the flash on 06/09/2017. It was then seen back at Sainte-Suzanne-et-Chammes on several dates in March and April 2019 before being reported again at the flash on 25/09/2020 and 28/02/2021 prior to the current run of sightings. Obviously there will be many other sightings which haven't been reported to the ringer.

Also this morning on the end of the spit, I was surprised to see the female tufted duck with the blue nasal saddle CH1. With most of the tufted ducks now gone and since this bird was first ringed in France, I thought that it would have moved on by now.

Anybody know anything about the Pectoral Sandpiper reported here at 13.53 on Birdguides? I was here when news broke, I've not seen another birder all afternoon, checked all likely spots can't see anything. Virtually waderless. Where's it hiding? Thanks

A brown female (hepatic) Cuckoo flew south across the flash early this morning, alighting in a tree on the south side briefly giving good views until it continued on. An all too rare flash species these days.

Apart from the osprey, the only birds I can add to this morning are garden warbler with nesting material on the ruck and redshank on the mini spit. Photo of the osprey.
Also saw the Osprey this morning as I was leaving the site in what was a fairly quiet and wet early visit with only two singing Willow Tits and a pair of Linnets particularly notable.

Great views of 9 Warbler species around the flash this morning, best of which were the Garden warbler on the Rucks, 2 Grasshopper warbler, and 5 Singing Cettis Warbler, the one at the west end seen alongside a non singing bird. Hobby also over west end c. 9.10, 4 Shelduck flew east over the rucks c.8am.

Immature (probably 2CY) Spoonbill circled low over the spit then high around the flash at 07:40 for a minute or so before heading off high SW.
This morning, garden warbler singing on the ruck, common sandpiper at the boat club, little egret and 100+ swifts. Also a reed warbler in front of the screen at Tom Edmonson has a ring but impossible to read.
