Spent an hour watching back garden with weather being so pants. Plenty of Goldfinch still coming to feeders,at least 12 Blackbirds coming to feed on the bread/dog food/suet pellet mix which unfortunately also attracted 3 Pheasants which mopped the food at an alarming rate. On the fatballs a couple of visits by a Grest Spotted Woodpecker, almost non stop traffic from Blue,Coal and Great Tits as well as the local House Sparrows.

None of the 'specials' have turned up yet, but at least things have become a little busier this week, with song thrush back and a couple of female bullfinches today supplementing the male who has been around for a while. All blackbirds have moved to the back garden as the mistle thrush has made the yew shrubs his own this year (for the first time), and is seeing off all-comers. Only thing I'd expect to have seen by now, but haven't, is nuthatch, but there are a couple around Hilltop near to home, so it's just a question of time.

Getting a bit more activity in the garden lately, time of year coupled with regular Sparrowhawk visits likely to be the reason I haven't needed to refill feeders as much as usual. Greenfinch and Goldfinch creeping into double figures with a couple of Chaffinch. 3 different Ring-necked Parakeet on the feeders today, birds being heard regularly atm. Four were flying around together on 17th Oct. 2 Goldcrest together. 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, first one for a while. 2 different Nuthatch, rarely seen at the same time. Jackdaws, Great, Blue and Coal Tits, Starlings, Blackbirds, Dunnocks, and Robin are regular visitors. A Wren has been singing recently. 10-15 House Sparrow, difficult to count as they generally hide in the privet hedge, jumping out onto the feeders for only a brief few seconds. 2 Jays have been over the road in the park for over a week now but not seen to come into the garden.
