1 Great White Egret - initially at the sailing club end, about 2/3 the way along by the time I left
2 Little Egrets - not at the sailing club end but then they turned up at the far end; however after 5 minutes they were "flushed" by a couple of anglers moving along (together with loads of duck & gulls)
1 Goosander - female, flew past going east
Other Ducks: Mallard, Teal & Tufted - light poor enough (for me) to easily miss anything else
1 Lesser Black Backed Gull - on a buoy, not amongst all the Black Headed Gulls
1 passing flock of 30-40 Redwing (not 100% sure of the ID in the rain, lesser possibility would be Starling, but the flock was very compact with no stragglers)

A good morning around Elton today.
Most of the morning spent Vis Migging from the field behind Withins. Around 8.30am the Great White Egret circled high over Within's and then dropped back down towards Elton. Then at 9.51am the Great White Egret again circled high over Withins and then flew passed me and off SW passed Radcliffe cemetry, then approx 5 mins later around 9.56am I picked up a Great White Egret high over Elton flying SW this one also flew over Withins and off SW. It seems inconceivable that the same bird could have doubled back that far in just a few mins, so I can only assume a second bird passed through. At midday a Great White Egret was back in the creek. Also at the reservoir was the Little Egret still present, Pintail still, 55 Teal, 6 Shoveler, 5 Goosander, 70 House Martin and a few Swallows.
The best of the Vis Mig watch was 595 Meadow Pipit south, 75 Linnet south, 41 Swallow, 2 skiens of Pink-feet east consisting of c50 and c70 and also 4 NW.
Also early this morning a Little Owl flushed from the large Willow Tree at Capsticks Marsh (given away by alarm calls of several blackbirds), was my first at Elton since 13th Dec 2015!
1 Great White Egret. 1 Little Egret. 1 Kestel. 1 Kingfisher. 60+ House Martin 50+ Swallow. 31 Meadow Pipit. 58 Cormorant. 6 Goosander. 2 Teal. 250+ Black Headed Gull. 200+ Starling (One flock). 11 Herring Gull. 6 Lesser Black Backed Gull. 8 Great Crested Grebe. 400+ Mallard. 7 Tufted Duck. 4 Grey Heron. 8 Mute Swan. 11 Collared Dove. 4 Grey Wagtail. 7 Pied Wagtail. 1 White Wagtail. 4 Long Tailed Tit.
