Dover basin 19.00 till dark(me birding int dark)
1 shelduck (bullying anything it could see) 4 gadwall 2 shoveler 2 redshank 1 lapwing 1 buzzard over 2 terns 2 heron 6+swallow mallard moorhen coot, an abundance of warblers,reed,sedge,willow,grasshopper(lots)chiff chaff,robin etc

4 redshank 4 gadwall 8 lapwing 4 mallard 2 sleepy herring gulls 1 male shelduck,it chased off 2 other shelduck again fingers crossed

Nice stroll from dover car park,

dover basin,12 teal,3 gadwall,coot,mallard,1 water rail(calling),2 swallow,1 house martin,lots of chiff chaff,willow warbler,blue,great and long tailed . 3 shellduck(somewhat unsettled and flighty)

Love reading your posts - they always have a different angle and always make me laugh With regards to your last post below - just one glaring omission - you have a golden opportunity to use telly in a post and you don't use the emoticon! Not so nice bike ride to dover and lightshaw ,first time i,ve had the push bike out this year and it,s hurting a bit.
lightshaw,50 wood pigeon,2 moorhen,32 teal,3 redshank,17 lapwings,1 oystercatcher,viewing conditions were less than ideal with lots of water glare and a tadge of wind making the scope 'dither'
anyone want to bet how long it will take the telly to migrate to the spit

One Chap with a Spaniel mooching through the reedbed came on from the bridge over the brook on Aye Bridge Rd

glovers pool, 1 tufted 2 mute swan 1 pied wagtail, longtailed,blue,great tits,20 fieldfare and a tadge of rain.
inbetween and through crankwood back to 'brunch',30 pheastant, goldfinch,house sparrow,starling,blackbirds,goosanders,collard dove,magpie,crow,kestrel ,sparrowhawk,canada,jackdaw,willow and coal tit,wren,dunnock,150 redwing.all in all a good days birding despite the weather.

Hundreds of Redwings and Fieldfares in the hedges and fields on either side of the canal around the Crankwood area, also a mixed flock of 27 Collared Dove, lots of Redwing, even more Fieldfare, 4 Lesser Redpoll, a few Starling and one or two Chaffinch around the houses at Crankwood. 3 plastic ducks on Lightshaw and 7 blokes with shotguns and dogs, shooting pheasants behind Dover Basin. Quite a few PFGs over, 2 Goosander flew over N and then turned back S (possibly 2 i had seen earlier at Slag Lane end of Penni Flash). at least 20 Cormorant over N, and hundreds of BH Gulls (with a few H, LBB and C Gulls) heading S (towards Penni roost (which was a rather large one tonight))

1 g s woodpecker on the railway supports drumming on the steel (should this go on the music thread)
loads of water fowl but nothing of note, a glorious bit of weather for birding

2 swallow 4 house martin still feeding young 1 g s pecker on the dead trees 2 moorhen and two coot on glovers 1 kingfisher on the trees by the aquaduct Hey brook has burst its banks and the whole area is very flooded so wellies required. congrats to ian on a very nice site tick this a.m.and yes I could easily have gone to the left but choose right i,m not bitter or twisted and SSW means that the osprey couldn,t absoloutly didn,t fly over our house ,so there

lightshaw 31/08/08 managed to get there even earlier than mr woosey but can only add to his list 2 mute swan 2 cormorant 1 little owl (i saw it move).
dover to glovers pool 12 swallow,6 house martins,1 jay 1 small tit flock,1 g s pecker perched up for ages,and then red letter day for glovers 2 moorhen and 1 glorious green sandpiper,flushed almost immediatly by a dog walker
