A fine morning and a 5.25 am start, (walked all round until 9.10 am by which time it was oppressively hot). I logged 48 species, (all common), though the still present Common Tern at Marina end of Elton at 7.35 am, was best of these. For me the highlight was discovery of Warfy's famous Dip area, which I never found/visited when I lived less than a mile away 40 years ago; - a super little patch indeed.

There has been a pair of Tufted on the marsh for sometime but I haven't yet seen any chicks. Also yesterday there was a Lesser Whitethroat in the bushes between the Res and Capsticks. Saw male Kestrel sat preening on one of the upturned boats at the boathouse being mobbed by several Sand Martins. I eventually got fed up of the attention and flew off into the dip.
