A quick hour tonight from 6.30 to 7.30.
Quail heard in field 10 from the path between fields 10 and 11, but no sighting. If anyone's going down tomorrow, take your x-ray specs as the wheat is high, dense and perfect for hiding in.
Consolation prizes came with some cracking views of Grey Partridge (one on the path between f10 and f11, one in f2), Linnet in f4, Swallow zipping around and Yellowhammer, the real stars of the show, everywhere you look.

Would suggest coming out of Sale via Harboro Road and going down Carrington Lane (A6144), past Man City's training ground, to the (new) junction with the B5158. At the junction turn left and follow Isherwood road as far as you can to just before a barrier (Man Utd training ground car entrance). Park on the right (room for a couple of cars before the yellow lines start, adjacent to the start of F4). Walk past the barrier onto the concrete road. If you look on the main site, in the "County Birding Sites and Map" section and go to the "Carrington Moss Field Numbers" you will be now walking between F4 & F5. Walk up to the first junction (on the concrete road) and take the right cinder track (now you are between F4 & F13). Keep going on this track to F10.
Good luck

There are numerous places where you can park and gain access to the Moss, but it'll always involve a fair old walk. You could park in Mersey Farm restaurant car park and cross over Carrington Lane, entering the so-called Millennium project bit of Danewell Woods, right near the traffic lights onto the Carrington Spur. This will lead you onto the Moss, but it's a good couple of miles to field 10. Likewise you can park on the Racecourse estate, around Firsway, near the Firsway Health Centre and access the Moss through the woodland nearly opposite. Still a couple of miles though. You could come at it from the Partington end, or from Sinderland Green, off Sinderland Road, but it's still a mile or so from there lol Hopefully you've got a copy of the map of Carrington Moss with the field numbers marked on it, I think there's one on here somewhere. A pushbike is handy...

I like you thought it was going to something to do with Cheshire Wildlife Trust..
Going up for a proper mooch Monday AM without the kids, so will take a look..
Cheers.
Cheers Steve. The only reference I can find to the works is on the Sale and Altrincham Conservation Volunteers website, which states clearing balsam and bracken and planting saplings. Its really opened it up in areas.
When I was on the other night, got talking to a dog walker whom has been speaking to one of the security guards at United training ground and apparently it's something to do with a bird zone..
I didn't venture that far, but was wondering what a bird zone was....lol..
Cheers
