Decided that time was ripe for a visit to this increasingly popular spot.
River Tame, Grove Road area (10.30 - 11.00):
1 (maybe 2) Dipper 1 Kingfisher 1 Goldcrest (in flock of Long-tailed Tits) 2 Goosanders (male displaying, female more interested in fish!) 8 Canada Geese (all paired up) 2 Coot (on pond - now thawing)
I walked there and back home via the canal and river:
4 (at least) Nuthatches (which weren't here 12+ years ago when this was a regular haunt of mine) 1 or 2 Treecreeper 1 Cormorant (on river) 2 Goosander (another pair) 1 Dipper 3 Grey Wagtails

8 Goosander dropped in together at 8.05am (5m, 3f), with the drakes having their usual squabble before settling down to fish 31 Mallard, started leaving as the Goosander arrived 1 pair of Coot

Seems to be the only place local with a bit of life plus you get a decent view now a lot of the brush has been cleared.
I'm thinking that they may be roosting on Stamford Park Lake ??

Plenty of activity. Two pairs seemed to be well bonded but the other 5 males were circling the un-paired female (who appeared un-impressed), wing flapping and chasing each other about if one seemed to get to close. Also more vocal than I've ever heard them ....... a constant low grunt.
