My sister-in-law has sent me a photo she took today of the flock in the trees next to the berries. Sorry John, I can only count 117 there. Are you making yours up as you go along?
Obviously there were 13 down feeding on the berries then I did count them 3 times.
Coincidentally there were 117 at Duke of York (Romiley) at mid-day today so 13 must have split from the main flock by the time she took her photo. I'm sticking by 130 yesterday.
Cheers, John

Why do the bird information services take the information off here and then see fit to change it so its wrong ?
These birds are in Astley and not Astley Green as they seem intent to publicise it as. The latter is a different location

At last! I've caught up with waxwings this winter (although I've only tried once). 20 in Romiley both this morning (7.30) and this evening (4.50) near the Duke of York pub. Loads of berries in the bushes along the main road, so chance they'll stick around. Quite a few high trees around, both across the road behind the houses where some flew this morning, and next to the flats where they were tonight.

Hi New to the forum. Excited to report sighting of flock of 55 waxwings on telegraph pole on Smith Lane Egerton this morning at 0830. Watched them until they flew off at 0900. Took photos but they probably aren't as good as I'd like (yet to upload). They were last here about 2 winters ago when 35 birds stayed around my house for 2 days, stripping my contoneaster tree bare in my back garden. They happily flew back and forth with me under the tree watching them. My tree is stripped of berries this morning (poor old blackbirds), so I'm guessing the flock of 55 have been feeding from there early on today. Lovely to see them.
