Plenty gulls all around for the larophiles, it's been a great autumn/winter so far for ducks on the docklands, who knows what else is out there ?

at 8.10pm this evening there was 37 tufted duck on Trafford wharf, by 8.35pm there was 57 tufted duck & 9 pochard until a party barge came past & they all took off, 7 pochard eventually returned. because of all the surrounding lights they were clearly identifiable through the binoculars & the fact that they were only about 40 yards away from me

Forgot all about the Grey Heron and 2 Moorhen Steve, was more concerned with finally 'getting the monkey off my back' with the Egyptian Geese. Just looking at the photo of the Kingfisher and it seems it was a male (all black bill).

8 Egyptian geese still present when I came back with my camera around 3.45pm they had moved off the round basin & onto the other concrete block & just stayed there, not even tempted by the bread I brought along with me. spent some time with rob creek also & we both seen them all fly off at 6.15pm in a westerly direction. 1 kingfisher 1 drake goldeneye 2 drake tufted duck 1 grey heron 2 moorhen 1 sparrowhawk

Thanks to Steve Burke for the info.
Last minute dash from work and took Mum to see the 8 Egyptian Geese and met up with Steve there. A first for me, only ever seen them in captivity / collections, even the Etherow Park bird has managed to evade me! Canada Geese came swooping down and after a few minutes the Egyptian Geese must've got spooked and took off West 6.15pm towards Stretford or Sale Also: - 1 Kingfisher doing loops round the basin - 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull - plenty of Black-headed Gulls
