Yesterday a female Greenfinch visited the feeders, along with a Goldfinch. I haven't seen the Greenfinch since, but a Goldfinch was in today along with a Coal Tit. A Song Thrush was singing until the natural light disappeared completely.

The garden was full of larger birds at lunchtime today.
3 Jackdaw 3 Woodpigeon 3 Magpie 2 Jay
The Magies seemed to jump on top of the feeders to knock food to the floor, which was quite comical.
In between times two Great Tit and a Blackbird were regular visitors.
Otherwise the garden is a quiet place at the moment.

Yesterday in our Stockport garden a young Sparrowhawk sat in the Magnolia for a couple of minutes then decided to attempt to take one of our ornamental birds (Ring Ouzel) - it obviously failed!! Not sure who was most shocked me or the hawk. I saw its talons open as it flew the twenty feet towards the Ouzel which is barely fifteen foot from the French window - it must have been shocked at the metal object it had tried to hunt.
After its failed kill it sat in next doors Laburnum in the rain for about fifteen minutes. A Blue Tit then flew into our Hawthorn hedge which separates the gardens. I noticed the Sparrowhawk was facing away from the hedge but within seconds it flew through the hedge with the Blue Tit in its talons. It then landed in the border where it started to mantle and pick at the tit, seconds later it was disturbed and flew away with its prey.

None of the 'specials' have turned up yet, but at least things have become a little busier this week, with song thrush back and a couple of female bullfinches today supplementing the male who has been around for a while. All blackbirds have moved to the back garden as the mistle thrush has made the yew shrubs his own this year (for the first time), and is seeing off all-comers. Only thing I'd expect to have seen by now, but haven't, is nuthatch, but there are a couple around Hilltop near to home, so it's just a question of time.
