same today plus 2 little grebe and the male wigeon.
I think that to get anything remotely interesting at HGF at the moment an early morning visit is required. By around 8am loads of dog walkers will be present and will have flushed any waders etc.
The LRP's do come back in late evening on occasions though.
It is also noticeable that the south bank resembles a landfill site at the moment - why do people clean up dog c**p into bags and then simply chuck the bags on the floor or into a hedge?
Cheers

couldn't beleave the crap the dog walkers leave round the pool,i counted 40 beer cans/pop cans ,plus bottles etc,and the dog mess problem,i mentioned it at penny, its becoming a epidemic ,dog walkers now pick the cr*P up put it in bags then when no ones lookin ,lob it in the nearest edge, come on id rather they let the dog do its buisness, than leave it in a tree in a bag that will take 20 years to dissapearwhats up wi people,or is it me thats old fashioned and normal. The owner of the pool should take some control,id rather he stopped everyone going on than it end up like it has

In my short visit the Grebes were constantly diving and moving around - I had to rely on trying to remember where I had seen birds on the surface. Initially I did think there were seven but couldn't confirm it from repeated counts so I suspect there were seven present all day.
I wonder if the departed birds were the ones that turned up on Wigan Flashes?
