Knot present just past creek, opposite side to boathouse 3.10 p.m. this bird gave good views through my scope and was identical to the juv.(fresh) in the Collins guide, it was flushed by a couple walking along the waters edge, when it flew low towards the boathouse. Does this suggest a different bird to the one this morning?. I could not relocate the bird but did spot the Redshank and 35-40 House Martin above the res. Cheers Ian

cheers steve, also suggested by a good birding friend, just checked some images of harris hawk and it looks spot on, bird in the field showed the reddish tinge to the wings and the pale tip to the tail, had never seen harris hawk before so never crossed my mind when looking at the bird, i know its an escape but nice to solve it anyway, thanks.

0700 till 1215 found a large brown raptor on pylon nr the creek, looked like a buzzard but quite slender, later in the morning when viewing from the pump house saw the bird in flight in fields nr the pylon, it showed a clear white tail band so hen harrier came to mind, spent a couple of hours looking for the bird and saw it again perched on pylon, it looked very dark with yellow bill and legs, then again in flight with tail band very obvious, cant say for certain which species it is, viewing not easy in heavy rain, bird is being looked for at the moment by peter baron so hopefully an id will be made soon.
