Early a.m. with Paul Wilson, fabulous weather. On the res. 8 Goosander and a few breeding pairs of Great Crested Grebe, also 2 Oystercatcher and single Little Ringed Plover(after I left you Paul) and another observer told me he had just seen a Tern species, Common he thought. Also Sedge Warbler singing below pumphouse with Willow Warbler, Blackcap and Chiffchaff also seen. 6 different singing Skylark in surrounding fields and Little Grebe in the dip. Cheers Ian

Pretty quiet Black cap in Hinds canal side, grey wags pair at outfall, reed buntings chiff willow warblers dip area Willow Warblers heard below withins and at Crow Tree farm, a skylark that seemed to get stuck in a groove, kestrel, little owl, Jay, and another pair of swans sitting near bennies, Sand Martins back in residence in the sand bank

Far too early for Tree Pipit firstly but two of the characteristics you mention fit Meadow Pipit better (eyeing and shape) and the other two are inconclusive due to overlap in the manner which you describe at least.
I take it you've read the Tree Pipit identification articles on the website? The pair (Tree and Meadow) can provide a genuine identification challenge at times and good views of a suite of features are necessary unless your used to regularly seeing hundreds of each species or can apply identification criteria carefully and subjectively

Whooper Swans left flying West approx. 8.30 a.m., also on res 3 Gadwall and 2 Shovellor amogst the Tufted and Great Crested Grebe. In field amongst the Highland cattle 17 Fieldfare, Little Owl near canal and Little Grebe in the dip. Cheers Ian
