This is my first post. I moved to the area about 3 months ago and it's great having Elton Res so close. I've found this forum really helpful.
I went for a late walk and was disappointed not to see the Black Tern on a buoy but then found it - after 8pm - flying around feeding over Withins. A beautiful bird. Plus a Common Sandpiper on Withins dam. Also, 7 Little Gulls appeared over Elton Res. at dusk and settled on the water - I've been seeing a single bird over the last couple of days but it was a surprise to see so many. Also, I "think" a Peregrine over Elton dam - could only see a silhouette as it was getting dark but can't think what else it could have been.

Was that confirmed breeding, Stephen? Nearly everyone I have spoken to around Elton seems to thinks lesser whitethroat is pretty much a passage bird and not that easy to get compared with a few years ago. It would be nice to think that they are breeding here though.
