As I left Asda in Ashton late this afternoon, I heard the agitated call of a Black-headed Gull. I looked up and saw a Black-headed Gull chasing a Peregrine. The Peregrine was carrying what looked like a Black-headed Gull and landed on Cavendish Mill opposite and proceeded to pluck its prey, unfortunately with its back to me. I was able to show my niece her first Peregrine though.

I think that it is an Eclipse male Ashley ..... mainly for the reason that it struggled to get up onto the opposite tow-path ... so suggested to me that it is flightless ?? This posed me another question though ... if it is how did it arrive here ?? It is in real good nick though and still a bonny bird.
