6 Green Ring Necked Parakeets this morning on the phone mast on the back 9, Church Rd Side of William Wroe this morning at 0952hrs. Then re-found on the phone mast at Trafford FC which is nr the old club house of William Wroe shortly after 1000hrs.

Have had parakeets flying over in the city a couple of mornings this week at ~0830 (well, University of Manchester, near the catholic church on Oxford Road). Only heard them the first time, but the second time saw it was a pair bombing across, I think going roughly South-East.

2 just flew over Winsfield Road, Hazel Grove. First I have ever seen or heard in this area. There are historic records of some at Poynton Pool which is within ˝ mile.

The Alexandrine Parakeet was once again in a Heaton Mersey garden today, with up to 20 Ring-necked Parakeets in the past week also.
Alexandrine Parakeet in my back garden in Heaton Mersey this afternoon. We regularly get flocks of double figures of Ring-necked Parakeets but I have not seen an Alexandrine Parakeet before.

Wednesday July 19th Pulled up on my Dane Bank driveway at around 5.20pm and there were 2 in the Silver Birch Tree at the edge of our front garden, their call gave them away. First time I've ever seen them around here and I thought it worth a mention on the relatively quiet Denton thread.

I remember quite a few years ago the groundsman at Rose Hill Remand Centre in Northenden used to breed Parakeets and release them into the grounds (he sited nest boxes along the high back wall)"
I don't know how far back this claim refers to but may explain the origins / population boost of these birds ?
I Googled Rose Hill Remand Centre and all posts relate to child sex abuse, so I'm reluctant to pursue the detective work into this claim.
