An image of TN5V this morning, a Polish ringed bird that has been at Redgate previously, most recently for me on 31st October. Interesting to see how the hood has developed in a month and half! Still not had a reply from the ringing group.

Nice to find this presumed 2nd winter Caspian Gull early afternoon yesterday. Unfortunately it was only on view briefly, on top of the roof by the yard and then one lap overhead and despite staying another hour or so there was no further sign. No sign of the adult type Iceland Gull.
I was sure I had an adult type Iceland Gull flying over the yard late on Thursday afternoon but it was poor light and I wasnt 100% so I put it down to one that got away. But then Friday afternoon Steve Burke contacted me to say he thought hed just had an adult Iceland Gull briefly on the 384 roof then flying away, but wasnt 100% as he was without equipment due to other commitments locally.
I called in on the way back to the depot, there mustve been well in excess of 100 large Gulls flying around and within a short time Id picked up on an adult type Iceland Gull over the yard, albeit briefly and as if to repeat Steves sighting the day before it flew off towards BCA. It wasnt until Id finished my break and was driving away on Hyde Rd that I saw it on that side of the 384 roof, damn thing was probably there a while and Id missed it through concentrating on the Redgate Lane side. So well done Steve, a great spot, cheers for the heads up and makes me more confident of what I saw on Thursday.
Also of note... - 4 Argentatus Herring Gulls - 2 Great Black-backed Gulls - 1 Grey Wagtail ...and a possible 1st W Yellow-legged Gull (although my track record for trying to identify these is shocking so Im by no means certain, but it did have a standout feature of un-notched pale straight edges to the tertials so I hope I got it right)

Saturday 8th June.
My first opportunity to stop off here in just over 2 weeks. Ive spent the vast majority of that time in St.Marys hospital as Michelle and myself welcomed our new little Guller into the world (or at least if I get my own way, he will be).
Of note... - 31 (more arriving) Lesser Black-backed Gulls Almost all adults or sub-adults - 4 adult Herring Gulls 1 of which was really interesting exhibiting small black eyes, a long bill, and very pale creamy coloured legs. But a couple of giveaways was the obvious Gonys angle on the bill, and then it moved along the 384 roof and settled in a different position showing the obvious Herring jizz. The leg colour Ive disregarded as just variation

Thats without the juveniles and various youngsters knocking about, some of which are probably Herring Gulls.
My first opportunity to stop off here in just over 2 weeks.
Ive spent the vast majority of that time in St.Marys hospital as Michelle and myself welcomed our new little Guller into the world (or at least if I get my own way, he will be).
Of note...
- 31 (more arriving) Lesser Black-backed Gulls
Almost all adults or sub-adults
- 4 adult Herring Gulls
1 of which was really interesting exhibiting small black eyes, a long bill, and very pale creamy coloured legs. But a couple of giveaways was the obvious Gonys angle on the bill, and then it moved along the 384 roof and settled in a different position showing the obvious Herring jizz. The leg colour Ive disregarded as just variation
