lots off snipe coming out off marsh below old hall farm at dusk, 18 seen before the light eventually faded,more heard. water rails heard.

2 Pink-footed Geese amonst 500+ Canada's 29 Cormorant flew over in a v formation from the west circles the res which was mostly frozen the went se 12 Snipe (10 flew south - cold weather movement and 2 in the dip) 5 Lapwing Buzzard sw over res Kestrel 2 Meadow Pipit south plus a single feeding on the frozen canal Grey Wagtail - bennies 2 Lesser Repoll - dip 7 Bullfinch -dip Single fieldfare coran stud (scare this winter)

When I started out it was just misty but snow soon led to trip abandonment at the old railway line on spenmoor with an inchj of snow in 30 mins. Nethertheless, in this, on spen moor, Two Mallard, Goldfinches, Kestrel, Pied Wagtail, Heron, Blackbacked gull flap over, Jay, Carrion Crow, and House Sparrows plus usuals.

Finished work at 1.00 and went across to elton for a few hours. Birds seen included:

The highlight was as I was leaving around 20 Goosander flew in. I had a quick count then across the reservoir and managed to count 39.
No waxwings or Redwings seen today!
