7-10a.m. with Brian Fielding the single Barn Owl is still present, lots of Hirundines over the res with double figures of Swift, 2/3 Common Sandpiper and an Oystercatcher the only waders. Below pumphouse good view of a Lesser Whitethroat, female Yellow Wagtail at Withins and singing Reed and Sedge Warblers at Coney reedbed. 5 Wheatear in field below the res. Pity we didn't spot the Whinchat. Cheers Ian

On closer view the sanderling now appears to be a very pale winter dunlin which was running along the shoreline in a very sanderling way, fast with sudden stops, live and learn i suppose, sorry for the miss info.

3 Arctic Tern still on the res. One landed next to the pump house and I was within 3 foot of it. It was in a distressed state with feathers all ruffled. 9 Wheatear. 3 Common Sandpiper still on the res.

common scoter still present when I left. it had a little fly around just before 7pm before landing close to wader point then moved towards the middle of the res then tucked his head in no signs of the little gull 30+ sand martins at least 5 swallows at least 2 house martins 1 little ringed plover 3 teal 1 shoveler 15 tufted duck 5 gadwall 2 kestrel 1 little owl 2 chiffchaffs 2 goosanders & 2 great crested grebes on withins 100+ mostly fieldfares & redwings again in trees close to capsticks 5 mistle thrush, 8 redwing, 2 fieldfare in field at crow trees farm several meadow pipits around

Today, 4 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin, 2 Chiffchaff, 1 female Goldeneye and the biggest gathering of Meadow Pipits I have ever seen at Elton, a remarkable 400+ all over the field side of the Reservoir, mainly feeding on huge swarms of midges that the absent Sand Martins should be feeding on by now.
