Reply from Mike Jackson regarding Herring Gull 7A7B after sending the sighting to Jez Blackburn as per cr-birding.
Mike ringed it as a 2nd CY bird (code 5) at Harewood Whin Landfill in York 21/08/15 and the only other sighting was in Scarborough this year 21/04/20.

At last, something different instead of sending Ian photos of Herring Gulls that I try to turn into other stuff!
Late afternoon. - 34 Jackdaw - 8 Carrion Crow - 6 Starling Low over in one group towards Manchester, but strangely the small number of Gulls on the 384 joined them.

- 1st CY Caspian Gull on 384 roof
Apologies for not posting this on the day as I wasnt sure it even was a Caspian Gull. I was drawn in by a few features including the whitish head with faint darker eye markings, all black bill, dark eye, scapular moult showing a little bit of grey, and the unusual gait to list a few. After consultation with Ian it appears it does show Caspian characteristics, but was rightly pointed out that all 1CY have black bill and eye, as do many 2CY Gull species.
The record has been submitted for approval so its certainly not a forgone conclusion.
Passed Redgate this morning, not had chance to stop here for any length of time last couple of weeks though due to covering different routes of furloughed colleagues.
Nice sight of a mass of Starlings swirling around, possibly in excess of 3/400 birds. Within seconds theyd split with some flying over Hyde Rd and the vast majority landing on the overhead cables just beyond Redgate towards the rail complex.

...or at least a Gull with yellow legs, mantle looks ok, extensive black in the primaries in flight, but something not quite right about the jizz for Yellow-legged Gull. In all honesty it could just be an Argenteus Herring Gull with yellow legs.

The Gulls had vanished for a short while and during that time I had a flurry of single Goldfinches over the 384 building only numbering around 10 birds, but then 2 birds went over together, calling. Sounded like Lesser Redpoll, struck me as a bit odd though?

During break earlier, one of the yard lads shouted me over saying theres a Gull cant fly so I went to have a look. A worse for wear Great Black-backed Gull all wet and bedraggled near the site office, I picked it up and put it in a concrete block shelter.
It stayed put for a few minutes but was soon up and about hobbling around with a limp. The main visible problem was what looked like an eye infection, and possible wing damage, they looked a bit tatty and it didnt open them once while I was there but its hard to tell and may not have any wing damage at all.
Phoned RSPCA, they would try to get an officer out before the light goes, I phoned Redgate weighbridge approx 5pm and the site manager had corralled
the bird into a safe area of the yard caged off until someone got there but nobody had turned up yet
Such is the resilience of Gulls... it will probably survive, despite it looking at deaths door at one point. Cheers for your help earlier Ian and well done for the efforts of the Redgate staff.

2 Herring Gulls seen, both with rear end injuries. Both have full tails missing, one had blood around the area so likely a bad flesh wound too. The other Im sure its a bird Ive seen here before (last year sometime?) and looks to have healed somewhat. Both look odd when flying, as the legs appear to protrude well out from the body due to the nature and locality of the injuries.
The only other thing of note is the significant reduction in Gull numbers, certainly the large Gulls anyway.
