Quiet morning compared to yesterday
Birds on the reservoirs were fairly similar to yesterday.
A Green Sandpiper was present briefly on no 3 around 08:10 but it flew off strongly east For some reason a fisherman decided it was in his best interests to climb over the wall on no 1 and he flushed at least 40 Snipe! Two Dunlin and Shoveler still present Female Reed Bunting Single Redpoll heard flying over Pipits were well spread but nothing other than Meadow Pipit seen

The colour ringed twite is probably from the W Pennines study. If anyone is able to see the full ring combination that would be a great help. It should have 2 colour rings on the right leg and one on the left leg above the metal ring.

16/10/2020 early am with couple of other regulars
1 Twite, colour ringed on right leg all yellow, couldn't tell if 2 or 3 rings together. 2 Rock Pipit 2 Dunlin 1 Shoveler 8 Teal 2 Little Grebe 6 Goldeneye 69 Pink-footed Geese over heading West 14 skylark in one flock heading east
What was almost certainly an adult Spotted Redshank in non breeding plumage was seen head tucked in for a few minutes by another site regular this morning, it then flew south with 4 Lapwing at around 10am Other sightings today 1 Rock Pipit on No2 1 Stonechat 13 Teal 1 Shoveler A few Meadow Pipit, Linnet, Reed Buntings and Goldfinch moving around the shrubs on No1 Small numbers of Swallow and House Martin A flock of 11 small waders flew high over, probably Dunlin.
A couple of other sightings this week from various observers. 3 Whooper Swans and a Little Egret were very brief visitors on Wednesday morning. The immature Peregrine has been seen twice grounded on one of the islands. Some Redwings flew along the railway on Wednesday.

Only other thing of note which I saw after Simon left was a peregrine (imm. fem), which gave a superb, prolonged display of aerobatics. It then fancied a bit of a rest and spent 10-15 minutes in two spells strolling around the 'island of dreams'! I can confirm that it flushed absolutely nothing from the weedy stuff on there!

23/9/2020 A look over No1 from NE corner at about 7am
Grey Plover still present and feeding about half way along east side.
Only other Waders seen were 1 Dunlin and 1 Ringed Plover. Shoveler seem to be down to 2 now. Still c30 Teal. 2 Swallow. Possible Stonechat near Central Well.

Not what I'd have chosen to celebrate my 200th and 201st sightings in G M, but the timing was spot on Possibly what sent the Turnstone into cover LOL Good to get a couple more off the ? list. Just another 6 or 8 to go.

21/9/2020 Brief look over No1 at 7:30 this morning
A Grey Plover (I think juvenile) was found last evening and stayed overnight, this morning it was feeding with a Redshank in the north east corner. 4 Dunlin and a Ringed Plover still present.
This is the first autumn record of Grey Plover since 2010, all other sightings since then have been in April or May apart from 2 that were seen on the 31st January 2012.
Female Pintail very close to the wall on number 1. Also 4+ Dunlin, Ringed Plover, 10 Shoveler, 2 Little Grebe, 2 Swallow, 8 Meadow Pipit, stunning winter plumage Wigeon, 20 Goosander, Sparrowhawk, 40 Lapwing, Grey Heron

Presumed the smaller bird amongst the Dunlin, again flushed by the Sparrowhawk, over no2 res and lost amongst the hirundine flock at 10.07 Knot 1 juvenile Dunlin 6-8 Common Ringed Plover 1 Common Sandpiper 1 no2 res Sparrowhawk 1 Swift 12 Pintail 1 Gadwall 1 Wigeon 11 Shoveler 19 Goldeneye 1 Goosander 12 Little Grebe 1

2 juvenile Curlew Sandpipers dropped in with a Ruff at c09:30 this morning and joined the Knot in the NE corner of no 1 reservoir. Unfortunately they were present for only about 5 minutes when everything was flushed by a Sparrowhawk and they flew off west.

A Grey Plover (I think juvenile) was found last evening and stayed overnight, this morning it was feeding with a Redshank in the north east corner.
4 Dunlin and a Ringed Plover still present.
This is the first autumn record of Grey Plover since 2010, all other sightings since then have been in April or May apart from 2 that were seen on the 31st January 2012.

2 juvenile Curlew Sandpipers dropped in with a Ruff at c09:30 this morning and joined the Knot in the NE corner of no 1 reservoir. Unfortunately they were present for only about 5 minutes when everything was flushed by a Sparrowhawk and they flew off west.
